Help & FAQ
Common questions about Fluent Icons Search.
What icon sets are included?
Segoe Fluent Icons is a font from Microsoft that contains over 1,600 scalable vector icons used throughout Windows 11 and Microsoft products. Each icon is a Unicode character in the Private Use Area (PUA). This font requires installation on your system—Windows 11 includes it by default. (Download Segoe Fluent Icons)
Fluent UI System Icons is Microsoft's open-source icon library with over 9,000 icons. These are bundled directly in the Windows and macOS apps—no separate font installation required. Fluent UI icons include Regular and Filled weights plus size variants (12, 16, 20, 24, 28, and 48px). If you need the fonts for your own projects, you can download the font files or visit the GitHub repository.
How do I use this app?
Windows & macOS apps: Search for icons by name, keyword, or hex code (e.g. "wifi", "E701", or "arrow"). Smart synonym expansion surfaces related icons—searching "home" also finds house, building, and dwelling icons. Toggle between Segoe Fluent Icons and Fluent UI icons with a single click. Click any icon to copy the glyph to your clipboard. Right-click for more copy format options. Use the size slider to adjust icon preview size.
Figma plugin: Search for Segoe Fluent Icons by name or keyword, then click to copy and paste the glyph directly onto your Figma canvas.
Is the Segoe Fluent Icons font required?
Only for viewing the Segoe Fluent Icons set. The font ships with Windows 11 by default, so most Windows users already have it. On Windows 10, you may need to download and install it separately from Microsoft Design Downloads. On macOS, you'll need to download and install the font to use the Segoe set. If the font is not detected, the app will let you know.
The Fluent UI System Icons are bundled with the app and work without any additional font installation.
Why do Segoe Fluent icons appear as rectangles?
If every icon in the Segoe Fluent set appears as a rectangle, the Segoe Fluent Icons font is not installed on your system. On Windows 10, download and install the font from Microsoft Design Downloads. On Windows 11, try running Windows Update—the font is included with the operating system. After installing the font, you can use the restart button in the app to quickly refresh.
If you're only seeing rectangles for some icons, your installed font version may be older. Running Windows Update typically installs the latest font version.
What copy formats are available?
Windows & macOS apps: Right-click any icon to copy in these formats: Glyph (the character itself), Unicode (U+E701), Hex code (E701), Icon name (Wifi), XAML FontIcon, XAML glyph string, C# string literal (\uE701), WPF markup, and CSS content value.
Figma plugin: Click any icon to copy the glyph character and paste it directly onto your canvas.
Can I use the Figma plugin on macOS?
Yes! You just need to download Microsoft's Segoe Fluent Icons font and install it. If you're on Windows 10, you'll also need to download the font. The Figma plugin searches Segoe Fluent Icons only—for Fluent UI System Icons, use the native Windows or macOS app.
I installed the font, but I'm still seeing "□" instead of glyphs.
In Figma, restart the app and relaunch the plugin due to font caching. In the Windows or macOS app, use the restart button to refresh font detection after installing the Segoe Fluent Icons font.
What are Fluent UI icon size variants?
Fluent UI System Icons are designed at specific pixel sizes: 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, and 48px. Each size variant is pixel-optimized for that resolution—a 16px icon isn't just a scaled-down 48px icon, it's redrawn for clarity at that size. Choose the variant that matches where you'll use the icon for the crispest rendering.
Can I download the SVGs of these icons?
Not through Fluent Icons Search—this app is for previewing and copying glyphs. For SVGs, visit the Fluent UI System Icons GitHub repository which has the full SVG library.
